Rainfresh ceramic cartridge Traps and Kills Harmful Bacteria (E. Coli). Is designed to provide microbiologically safe drinking water from virtually any water source such as lake, river, stream, pond, well, and cistern without the use of pumps or electricity. It features Rainfresh’s unique self-disinfecting, silver impregnated ceramic filteration technology to trap and kill >99.9999% pathogenic bacteria (E. Coli) and >99.95% protozoan cysts (cryptosporidium & giardia) in addition to reducing sediment and other suspended solids down to 0.3 micron. Also improve taste by reducing chlorine, taste and odour. Ceramics certified by CSA International to NSF/ANSI 53 for reduction of cysts (Cryptosporidium & Giardia). Ceramic cartridges are cleanable and re-usable up to 100 cleanings. When the ceramic cartridges get plugged with dirt, they can be easily removed from the unit by unscrewing wing nuts that hold it in place. They can then be cleaned by scrubbing the surface of the cartridge using a scrub pad (included with unit). A cartridge gauge (also included) is used after every cleaning to check whether the cartridge diameter is within safe limits. When the gauge diameter equals or exceeds the diameter of the cartridge, the cartridges need replacement.
